This workshop follows Rust & Stardust’s show about Ada Lovelace, the 19th century mathematician. Make your own Ada Lovelace puppet and learn about Flyology, the childhood book she wrote which featured plans to build a steam-powered mechanical flying horse.

The Poetical Scientist is a lighthearted look at the life of Ada Lovelace, who worked with Charles Babbage and became a pioneer of computer programming. Her story is told with beautiful tabletop puppets, music and projection art.

With work focusing on new writing, puppetry, animation and music, Rust & Stardust are passionate about stories and storytelling, folklore and mythology, and all things homegrown and handmade. They’ve worked with schools and theatres to provide themed shows and workshops, and perform as part of the Brighton Science Festival.

Their Science Shows use puppet theatre and drama to educate and inspire children and challenge new ways of thinking. Combining facts, fun, science, social history, art and theatre, their shows are the perfect answer to cross-curricular learning.

Praise for Rust & Stardust’s work:

“Enchanting, informative and exhilarating in equal measure.” (Fringe Review)

“A complete and brilliant package.” (The Latest)
