How does knitting work?

Objective

Understand the structure of knitted fabrics by creating your own knitted piece.

Learn from imagery of different types of knitted fabrics and garments, the uses and how it’s used in different garments with examples.

Materials / Tools

  • Your body! (You will learn how to use your very own arms as knitting needles)
  • Recycled fabric yarn (We believe in sustainable textiles and you will get to create your own design using all recycled yarn and fabric strips, this will give you something completely unique)
  • Scissors

Procedure / Method

Using your arms as needles you will create a series of loops onto one arm, then following the method demonstrated by your tutor you will pull new loops through and your fabric will begin to grow!
