We’ve had an idea. We want to build a race track. It must have bridges, tunnels and ramps. It should also have a few flag posts just for fun too, and we want to build it entirely from newspaper!

Stixx are rods made from tightly coiled newspaper. Connect them with cable ties and you can build incredibly strong triangles and pyramids. Connect the triangles and pyramids together and you can build some amazing structures including bridges and tunnels, and that’s just why we want your help.

We have a huge hall to fill and we want you to help design and build a race track that will fill the hall, and when we’re done, we’re going to test it by mounting a small video camera on a car and setting it off to complete a lap. You will be able to see a driver’s eye view of the race track that you helped build.

So turn up, join in, get creative, and start building your piece of the course. We have everything you need, just bring your imagination.

Science Rocks was set up to get young people interested in GCSE science. We make award-winning science revision films for GCSE and we put on science events at schools. You can see what we do on www.sciencerocksuk.co.uk.
