Want to know more about stargazing? Here’s your chance for a spot of seaside astronomy. This event will be accessible to anyone from beginners to experts and will provide an opportunity to observe the night sky, and in particular the new moon, through telescopes placed on Hove seafront.

There will also be astrophotography displays and astronomy books to peruse, all to the background of space-themed music. Three or more telescopes will be set up, with volunteers available to guide visitors through how to use these as well as give tips on astrophotography.

Please note that this event depends on the skies being clear enough to see anything. We will know a few days ahead of the dates and will keep you updated on social media. Hopefully we can do both days. Refreshments and possibly a BBQ will be provided. Since it’s a February night, please dress for warmth and comfort!

Brighton Astro is a place for cosmic enthusiasts from all walks of life and levels of astronomy experience to meet up, talk about the universe and gaze at the stars. Every month Brighton Astro hosts a free talk with drinks and nibbles and the opportunity to go out with telescopes afterwards – weather permitting! Why not join them and look to the stars?

NOTE: Weather permitting! Keep an eye on www.brightonastro.com to see whether we have clear skies.

Location: Beach Hut 282, on the promenade just west of The Venue Bar (The Venue Bar, Western Esplanade, Kingsway, BN3 4FA).

All ages. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
