Go with the flow and explore the water cycle of Brighton inside an interactive Minecraft map. Fall out of the sky onto the Downs and find your way to the aquifer – get spurted out of a household tap and travel the sewers to the sea, where you’ll evaporate back into a raincloud. BlockBuilders use accessible technology to look at environmental issues and explore the world around us. All ability levels are welcome.

BlockBuilders is a Brighton-based social enterprise that uses digital technology such as Minecraft and virtual reality as tools to engage communities in town planning, design and ecology. Their mission is to involve a wide range of demographics in the planning process. Since 2014 BlockBuilders have worked with over a thousand young people across the country and have developed a set of fun tools to engage and inspire. Their projects enable the community’s views to be represented and for that data to be fed back to the decision makers. Minecraft is at the centre of the process; it encourages a collaborative conversation and helps bring issues to life. If the participants have not played Minecraft before we can teach them how to use it.
