What would you do if you could redesign Brighton Marina? BlockBuilders help you bring your ideas to life with a detailed virtual model of the marina built in Minecraft – and yours to play with. Explore environmental and planning issues in a collaborative workshop that lets young people grapple with the problems and devise their own solutions.

BlockBuilders is a Brighton-based social enterprise that uses digital technology such as Minecraft and virtual reality as tools to engage communities in town planning, design and ecology. Their mission is to involve a wide range of demographics in the planning process. Since 2014 BlockBuilders have worked with over a thousand young people across the country and have developed a set of fun tools to engage and inspire. Their projects enable the community’s views to be represented and for that data to be fed back to the decision makers. Minecraft is at the centre of the process; it encourages a collaborative conversation and helps bring issues to life. If the participants have not played Minecraft before we can teach them how to use it.
