A hands-on workshop with artist Beatrice von Preussen, who recently sailed through the high Arctic looking for fossils and collecting research for a children’s nature book. Learn about her adventure, meet Arctic scientist Dr Sarah Harpenslager, have a go with real scientific equipment and make your own Arctic sample kit.

Beatrice spent two months in the high arctic in summer 2017. During an expedition on a tall ship exploring the Svalbard archipelago, she joined scientists measuring volcanic thermal springs and searched for fossilised worms’ teeth to post to the Natural History Museum.

O N C A supports the well-being of people and places by increasing awareness of, and engagement with, environmental and social challenges. We are a space for meeting, thinking, learning and celebrating art, always encouraging artists to ask big questions about difficult issues. O N C A embraces diverse perspectives and needs by modelling and fostering inclusive creative practices. We are proud to help people imagine, and move towards, thriving futures. To do this, we partner with local and international artists and organisations. We specialise in creative learning projects with children and young people.

Ages up to 12. Under 5s must be accompanied by carer.

£10 per participant. £8 for siblings.
