Curriculum-based and appropriate for entire classes, students can learn hands on by sending their voice on a light beam with Jonathan Hare’s ingenious vibrations experiment, or explore the endless possibilities with Richard Robinson’s Incredible Machine. Each workshop encourages students to harness their creativity, observation, innovation and ability to work as part of a team.

Funfair

A collection of stalls offering funfair favourites with a scientific twist. Games such as Guess The Weight Of The Cake, a Human Fruit Machine and Bash The Rat will transform the classroom or school hall into a festival of curiosity. Under our guidance, students can also design and create their own stalls in a project-based format.

Richard Wiseman Paranormality

Paranormal phenomena do not exist – and yet 73% of Americans claim to have experienced them. Professor Richard Wiseman, psychologist and illusionist, examines the science behind the supernatural, revealing what ghosts, psychics and out-of-body experiences prove about our brains and beliefs. This is a journey into the world where the truth is far stranger than fiction.

Psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman started his working life as a professional magician and currently holds Britain’s only Professorship in the Public Understanding of Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire. He frequently appears on the media, and has written over 60 academic articles and several books, including The Luck Factor.

Electronic guitar maker

Learn about basic electronics and how to wire up your own musical instruments. Once you’ve constructed it you’ll get the chance to rock out and play some tunes. Arduinitar is a build-it-yourself electronic guitar, based around the Arduino component, created by the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London.
